Mission: "UNICEF is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to advocate for the protection of children's rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential."
Who: UNICEF stands for United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund
What: In 1946, the United Nations created UNICEF to help children with emergency needs across the world. They provide vaccinations for children and support the health and nutrition for children across the globe. They work with HIV prevention and treatment and protect children from violence and exploitation.
Where: UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories across the globe. You can find the whole list of areas that UNICEF works here.
When: Before, during and after humanitarian emergencies.
Why: One of their main goals is to protect the rights of every child, everywhere.
How can you help?
UNICEF is always looking for donations and the need for funding continued to be strong across the world. Additionally, UNICEF advertises that 96% of their funding goes towards the work there do and not to administrative expenses.

GCNF
MISSION: "We expand opportunities for the world's children to receive adequate nutrition for learning and achieving their potential."
VISIONS: We envision a future where school meals sustainable nourish all children and help them, their families, communities, and nations thrive.
Who: GCNF is the Global Child Nutrition Foundation (GCNF)
What: This organization works specifically to provide the necessary resources for schools to build and develop school meals programs. The work to provide funding as well as help battle political issues preventing areas from accessing the resources they need to thrive. Their goals within their mission, according to their website, are:
Build capacity of governments to implement national school meal programs
Share best practices and tools to support the creation, expansion, and improvement of national school meal programs
Engage civil society and businesses to strengthen supply chains and increase political will for school meal programs
Coordinate with others in the field – nonprofits, schools, and researchers – to raise awareness and ensure strong support and resourcing for school meal programs
Where: GCNF is a global organization but they focus their work in the weakest and lowest income countries.
When: GCNF has been doing their work since 1997!
Why: School meal programs are an essential part of children's lives all over the world. Many children rely on on their school meal programs for the main source of their nutrition.
According to the GCNF website, "As of 2013, 368 million children - 1 in 5 - receive a daily meal at school." This is a huge number of children across the world and explains the huge importance and significance of needing this type of organization.

According to their website, your donation will help GCNF sponsor school meal practitioners and advocates, create resources for schools, expand the "Global Survey of School Meal Programs", provide technical assistance and advocacy for the need of school lunch programs.
